Have you ever seen _Species_ (1995)? Yeah, this is basically that movie, only nowhere near as good, and with a vampire. Our vampire is Paula, and she's not a conventional blood sucker. That's putting it mildly, I was fairly confused as to the what and why here, but suffice it to say she's a vampire and people are trying to cure her. The first act is a bit clunky, so is the second act, for the most part. The highlight is toward the end, when Paula escapes and attacks a guy. After that, the movie makes some mistakes: first off, I need to mention the forced love story between Paula, and our lead, Owen. I really hate this; why do writers feel the need to make people fall in love the day after they meet? Anyway, there's a sex scene that goes on far too long, then the movie just keeps going, but at a very slow pace. It was at this point I wondered why the film wasn't over. Then it just ends. Like, what did you expect? The end. So, yeah, not terrible, but nothing special at all. If you're interested in vampire movies that don't follow the typical formula, give it a watch. If nothing else, I liked the tone: it was more like a thriller or sci-fi movie with appropriate humor in some places. Lastly, the first shot, after the titles, is boobs. I'm never going to complain about that.
