A 48-year-old homeless singer and composer receive a cryptic message that makes him believe he has been visited by the Virgin Mary.

[IFFR'22] A musical that could almost be described as a "French" version of Jesus Christ Superstar (1973), with a messianic protagonist who travels to Lourdes in search of a virginal presence that is not exactly the Virgin. Lourdes as a kind of amusement park that attracts pilgrimage also represents faith, the blind belief in the return of a disappeared person. The songs work as the inner thought of the characters.
Like when you try to invent your own recipe and it has lots of flavors but only the wrong ones. _Tralala_ is an unnecessary musical, starring actors who can't necessarily sing or play musical instruments. The story is as unfocused and illogical as an 80s pop song, which was, coincidentally, my least favorite period for music. A special shout-out, however, to Bertrand Belin (one of the precious few real musicians in the film -- in _Tralala_ the actors couldn't sing but the singers could act). I didn't know of him before this movie but he looked cool af, commanded attention in every scene that featured him and he sounded enough like my favorite French troubadour, the late Alain Bashung, that I left with a new mission to catch up on this musician.
