Great performances but the story is sometimes lacking.
I have selfish reasons to like this movie. It highlights the strength within a woman in the midst of strife. It showcases the triumphant power of community. It doesn’t hesitate to show the impact of trauma and it’s collateral damage. But, beyond that, it shows joy in what is, when everything wants to distract you with what isn’t. Great storytelling. Great cast giving great performances. I give this film an 8 (great) out of 10. [Drama]
The plot is a little implausible but if you can look past that it's a decent enough movie. The courtroom scene was emotionally poignant. I respected that they didn't want to go the route of the schmaltzy ending but I'm not sure the ending they went with was necessarily better.
This film is about a woman he is desperately trying to get both herself and her daughters away from an abusive husband/father. The lead is extraordinary and her performance is enough to raise the film above the well-traveled themes in the movie. The ending is excellent. follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHATEBadMovies
