Like a Facebook post written in another language: you think it probably has something new and deep to share until you translate it and realize it's the same shit post everyone's posting in your native language. On the 3rd Day is the story of a woman escaping her abusive ex with her young son, only to get in a car accident on her way out of town. Unfortunately, the vehicle she crashes into is carrying a dangerous cargo that will set in motion a series of events that will culminate in a devasting crescendo on the 3rd day. The film -- from the directing to the acting to the script -- comes off as amateurish, so the fact the flick originates from Argentina doesn't mean it has a fresh approach to this familiar vampire tale. Like that Facebook post in a foreign tongue, On the 3rd Day has the same thing to say as low budget American horror movies, and says it with just as little originality as the unimaginative stories overflowing or screens at the moment. The only reason you should watch this is to smile at the over-saturated earnestness this film exudes from its first frame to its last.

This film doesn’t bring much new to the table in terms of originality and moves a bit slow but as far as religious psychological horrors go, this one is a pretty solid entry. Even though there are a couple scenes that are totally nonsensical and having it in English dub can be quite distracting, there's a lot of stuff here that works. Perhaps not exactly the hardest mystery to figure out, but it blends the mystery and the religious aspect together really well. The horror is slowly churned out as the pieces of the mystery come together to create a really compelling dark story. The narrative threads come together a little too neatly before the credits, but the ride is well worth it.
