He's not the messiah...he's just a naughty boy.
Brian Cohen is an average young Jewish man, but through a series of ridiculous events, he gains a reputation as the Messiah. When he's not dodging his followers or being scolded by his shrill mother, the hapless Brian has to contend with the pompous Pontius Pilate and acronym-obsessed members of a separatist movement. Rife with Monty Python's signature absurdity, the tale finds Brian's life paralleling Biblical lore, albeit with many more laughs.

Probably the most accurate representation ever of that time period. A genius film made by brilliant people. (all highly educated people) John Marwood Cleese I salute you! Some quotes / scene referrals to elaborate this statement. - O.K. but besides... ...What did the romans ever do for us? - Oh, I thought we were the popular front? - ROMANES EUT DOMUS ?!?... ...Ah, huh, third person plural, uh, present indicative. - ...Which they're fathers fathers left there just the night before... - Suicide squad attack Uuurrgghhh... So that will teach them !!! - No One is to stone anyone, until I blow this whistle... Even if they do say Jehovah - How about those Jennifer bushes over there? - Yes, we're all individuals... ...Exactly ! Tell us more. No that's precisely the point. - Crucifiction? Yes. Good... Out of the door line on the left one cross each. - Release Brian !!! Oh yeah that's a good one. Release Brian !!! This film should be scolar education material around the world and maybe people might learn something. Highly unlikely that would work, but that's precisely the problem. The only thing that I disliked in the movie was the spaceship scene. But since I have seen it a 100+ times in my life it might be considered a minor detail.
This is a cult classic, which usually means that people who grew up on it love it and people who now watch it for the first time don't get what's so great about it. With this movie I'm in the second group.. Sure, there are some hilarious moments, and sure, they mock the story of Jesus and rebel against the church. But the movie moves too slow and there were too few funny moments for me to really enjoy it. Always look on the bright side of life is brilliant though!
Today the film is rightfully regarded as a comedy classic, and one of the Python's finest works. It's *still* not a film for everybody, but does it have to be? If you're in tune with the Python's style of zany comedy, you'll enjoy "Life Of Brian."
If the story of Christianity's roots is eternal, so too should be anyone brave enough to parody it. This, the British troupe's second cinematic expedition, is neither as carelessly silly as _The Holy Grail_ nor as manic and sketch-heavy as _The Meaning of Life_, but it's every bit as funny in its own dryly sarcastic way. Though it might not be as immediately gratifying as its peers, I've come to appreciate _Brian_ as the Pythons' best-written picture over the years, with a razor-sharp wit placed alongside the requisite amounts of lunacy and brow-furrowing topics of conversation. And, though it's clearly a product of the late '70s in many ways, its not-so-subtle warnings against blind faith in any organization (or the men at the helm) is still very relevant in today's world. It isn't the non-stop funhouse jaunt that one might expect from this cast, but _Brian_ delivers no less efficiently in different ways, especially during its hilariously bleak song and dance finale.
