Movie that brings Italian history to light, the story of a country that came to acknowledge the existence of the mafia, for the first time in its entirety, which led even the most reluctant to realize the existence of this perfect machine. The precision that Favino has in telling and interpreting the role of Tommaso Buscetta gave me shivers, he certainly studied a lot to be able to make an exact copy of the man that Buscetta was.
The true story about the man who brought down the mafia
You'd think a 2 1/2 hour biopic about a mafia informer in the 1980s would drag a little, and you'd be right. _Il Traditore_ / _The Traitor_ is a visually well-made film with a good cast that -- apart from a few requisite mafia shoot-outs -- spends too much time focusing on the fringes of the story in order to appear artsy, rather than getting down to brass bullets.
