So well made that I didn't like it. _Give Me Liberty_ is a frenetic film about frantic, stressful situations edited by a juiced up monkey in a room with a splicer who doesn't get it right in a million years. See this film and you'll leave so wound up that the tension hurts. Sadly, here there is pain but no gain because the film doesn't give you anything but a hard time.
I was shocked at just how profound this movie is. The movie is set over the course of a few hours in Milwaukee. The male lead is someone that obviously has a big heart and is struggling to move forward in his life despite being pulled backwards by cultural and familial expectations. And that is where the movie really shines - it navigates family, culture, race and economic class struggles while not beating you over the head with any of the themes like other movies (Crash comes to mind). It may not always be the most entertaining movie to watch but I think the creators of the movie really did something extraordinary. follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHATEBadMovies
