Joseph and his two sons, Joachim and Ivan, form a close-knit family but fail to see that each one is losing control of his life. Joachim is supposed to be studying psychiatry but spends most of his time daydreaming about his ex-girlfriend, Ivan cannot fit in at school despite being very smart, and Joseph has secretly quit his job as a doctor and is trying to become a writer. Two young men have to fool themselves into falling in love with every girl they meet to justify their sexual compulsions. Fortunately (for them), they're easy to fool. 28-year-old French actor Félix Moati directs his first film with subtlety and technical skill. Sadly, the material and the actors (save Benoît Poelvoorde and Anaïs Demoustier--and I mean that literally: Please save them from this movie) don't live up to the challenge. While this film feels frigid (it just sits there and lets you watch it, not caring if you like it and faking the climax), the technical expertise makes me eager to see what Moati brings to the table next.
