**Bittersweet and beautifully executed, this resonates for those familiar with difficult love.**
Begins well as both a meditative look at relationship disharmony and a possible life after death scenario. But then it wanders in too many different directions and by the end, it left me confused.
Memories of a relationship. There is an original use of flashback that is commented on by the characters themselves. But also a conservative view of what commitment in a relationship entails. It's the illusion, the imagination of what could be, what works as the engine of an imperfect couple. But the narrative, also imperfect but interesting, collides with an outcome that seeks more impact than effectiveness.
It's rare to find a unique way to tell a story but I think this movie was able to check that box. I have to admit to being partial to movies that contrast the past with the present (Blue Valentine being my favorite example) - this film managed to tell both in the same scene. Without saying too much there is a pending resolution that was hanging over this film and I worried that it might cheapen the overall theme of the movie. When it finally did come it was done in such a way that it did not take away from the movie's excellent final act. follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHATEBadMovies
