You Don't Choose Your Family, Or Your Dog.
Henri is a middle-aged writer with fading inspiration who has published nothing worthy of note in years. Feeling increasingly misunderstood by his wife and four grown up deadbeat kids, he dreams of running away to start over again. Yet when he discovers an unattractive, bad-mannered dog in his garden, he decides to adopt him and both start developing an unexpected friendship that inevitably upsets Henri’s family and neighbors.

_My Dog Stupid_ is the kind of dog movie that even dog lovers won't like. Based on a 1987 American novel by a writer with no inspiration who decided to write a book about a writer with no inspiration, _My Dog Stupid_ forces us to ask important questions, like why should we care about this family who spend the running time of this movie insulting each other at every turn?
Funny, sad, emotional, and many more 8/10
This is a play not a movie. Bland, pompous and (very) badly acted.
I admit I was bored during the screening. The dog is in fact only a pretext to dissect 25 years of common life of a couple with children and all the problems that can raise. It’s not a comedy like the trailer or the poster suggests. It’s a return on oneself. Many will recognize each other but is it funny ?
