A passionate love story set against a backdrop of sexual freedom, loosely based on the relationship between 19th century authors Pierre Louÿs and Marie de Régnier.

This erotic film is as erotic as a bread sandwich, where you take a slice of white bread and put it between two other pieces of white bread. Erotica is not brightly lit, high def frontals, because erotica is not about what you see, it's about what you don't see. Erotica is about feeling the sensations, not watching them. Erotica is wanting, not getting, and sadly what we get the most from _Curiosa_ is bored.
White eroticism for this story of a lucky photographer.
French period film about Marie de Heredia, a woman who discovered eroticism and literature through her lover Pierre Louÿs while married to another poet. The subject is interesting, but it felt quite slow to me. A true story about erotic photography, sexual freedom and artistic creativity in early 20th century France. Visually gorgeous. The costumes... the lighting, the interiors..., everything with that impressionist painting aesthetic that French cinema does so well. But well, as I said, too slow, I struggled to maintain interest. Very slow-paced, almost contemplative, and although I understand it's trying to create a sensual atmosphere, it constantly becomes tedious. I didn't fully connect with the characters or their love story.
