More Shaft than you can handle.
JJ, aka John Shaft Jr., may be a cyber security expert with a degree from MIT, but to uncover the truth behind his best friend’s untimely death, he needs an education only his dad can provide. Absent throughout JJ’s youth, the legendary locked-and-loaded John Shaft agrees to help his progeny navigate Harlem’s heroin-infested underbelly.

I'm surprised Sam Jackson didn't break his back from holding up this whole god-damn movie. I didn't think anything really landed properly except the scenes with him in it, but the scenes with him seemed to really sell how awesome Shaft is meant to be. I'm still not sure if it was intentionally written that way or not. Man, we also could have done with a Richard Roundtree coming in a lot sooner. Something just felt good having the three generations of Shaft was so satisfying.
Without SLJ this would be a mediocre movie. And that's how it felt until he had his entrance. From that moment on, the movie really gets rolling. Nobody plays "cool" like him. But I don't think I would want to see another _Shaft_ movie with Junior.
This movie is hilarious romantic and so comedic along with action all the way I highly recommend watching it hope for another SHAFT with The SHAFT Trio in the near future.
Crap movie, crap movie, period...
