Lacey Chabert stars in the formulaic Hallmark rom-com _The Sweetest Christmas_. The story follows a pastry chef who enters a Christmas baking contest and reconnects with her ex-boyfriend who helps her prepare. Chabert gives a strong performance and is backed by a solid supporting cast. But the plot is by-the-numbers; hitting all the usual tropes and clichés. Still, the characters are likable and the sets and costumes are well-done; especially the pastry confections. And the soundtrack has a nice festive energy to it. _The Sweetest Christmas_ is entertaining and has its moments, but it’s also rather forgettable and lacks originality.
