It's at least a 7 for the average sci Fi person. it's pretty unique. a love conquers all with the twist of time travel. If you're expecting an action thriller or a rom-com-drama, then you'll be really disappointed, which probably explains the lower average. The cast and acting is phenomenal and the storyline is something completely different than even I expected after watching the trailer. I like getting something different and unique so it was a pleasant surprise to me.
If I was slipping back and forward in time, I would desperately hope to not repeat this 2 hours. It's slow moving, more atmospheric romance than science fiction, with solid enough acting and good production values, but a woefully disappointing script that could have delivered so much more. In hindsight, the naffness of the title should have been a warning of what to expect.
Needle in a Timestack (2021) - ❤x6 Set in a time where Time-shifts are an everyday occurence and everyone is aware of them and everyone checks in with their loved-ones to see if and what might have changed. This is a brand new and interesting concept. But - sadly - for me this was way too heavy on the drama and not enough on time-traveling itself. And on the third hand, it is also interesting to see what happens to al the other people - the non-time-travelling folks when things are changed by the time-travelers. All this to say - I'm kind of torn as to whether I liked this movie or not. How I rate: 1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time 4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this 7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too 9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!
Pleasantly surprised to see that it's an adaptation of a Robert Silverberg story, so I'll hazard a guess that, his story is better (I'm going to read it to be sure) as it's really the concept and the atmosphere that make this film interesting, the acting is good but there isn't much depth to the adaptation, scenes feel disjointed, yes, ok, understandable considering the time phasing, but the characters lack depth too and that signifies a larger problem. 6/10 - for concept, atmosphere and acting.
A pretty good film but the story isn't as fleshed out as I wanted it be.
