BEHIND A BARRIER OF ANTARCTIC ICE... A PARADISE OF HIDDEN TERRORS!
Navy Commander Alan Roberts is assigned to lead an expedition to Little America in Antarctica to investigate reports of a mysterious warm water inland lake discovered a decade earlier. His helicopter and its small party, including reporter Maggie Hathaway, is forced down into a volcanic crater by a fierce storm. They find themselves trapped in a lush tropical environment that has survived from prehistoric times.

"The Land Unknown" was a strange viewing. The dinosaurs were fun and corny and at least they weren't just magnified lizards. Some of the matte paintings were cool and the sets were fun to see. I must also give the miniature helicopter props (no pun intended). It was one of the movie's highlights. The dinosaurs are not very threatening to the crew stranded in this unknown world. Instead the trouble lies in a shaggy Dr. Hunter. He's been a resident of this prehistoric land ever since he himself was stranded there years earlier. Dr. Hunter kidnaps the lone female member of the crew for reasons related to his manhood I would guess. This is really just a silly B-movie that I actually got kind of bored with.
