Synopsis
1920, rural Ireland. Anglo-Irish twins Rachel and Edward share a strange existence in their crumbling family estate. Each night, the property becomes the domain of a sinister presence (The Lodgers) which enforces three rules upon the twins: they must be in bed by midnight; they may not permit an outsider past the threshold; and if one attempts to escape, the life of the other is placed in jeopardy. When troubled war veteran Sean returns to the nearby village, he is immediately drawn to the mysterious Rachel, who in turn begins to break the rules set out by The Lodgers. The consequences pull Rachel into a deadly confrontation with her brother - and with the curse that haunts them.

Extremely boring and not scary at all! I mean, there is this curse going on in the movie, but it doesn't make much sense, especially if the only reason it was casted on the family was [spoiler]incest between twins[/spoiler]... At one point the brother even proclaims that they are going to be [spoiler]immortals[/spoiler], but what is the point [spoiler]of immortality if everytime you have to kill yourself and leave your incestuos children-clones behind?[/spoiler]

Visually absolutely amazing, fantastic athmosphere, but the story itself is absolutely boring and weird.

Whilst being aesthetically captivating and surprisingly well acted, The Lodgers lacks the much needed polish in it's writing and story to raise it above it's peers. Great to look at, but very threadbare.

I have a soft spot for haunted house movies. Thankfully, this one did not disappoint in the least. Creepy from beginning to end and beautifully filmed to boot. Well worth a watch.
