Although Brad has a satisfying career, a sweet wife and a comfortable life in suburban Sacramento, things aren't quite what he imagined during his college glory days. When he accompanies his musical prodigy son on a university tour, he can't help comparing his life with those of his four best college friends who seemingly have more wealthy and glamorous lives. But when circumstances force him to reconnect with his former friends, Brad begins to question whether he has really failed or if their lives are actually more flawed than they appear.

If you plan on slitting your wrists after a movie, then this is the one you're looking for
Not everybody will buy into Brad's thinking, but for me it was completely relatable. While my life isn't completely crappy, and there is much that I am proud of, I still have those 'what if' feelings. Looking at others, I get all Meg Ryan and wish I could have what they were having. I overthink and wonder what other people think of me. It's envy and insecurity I know, and the thoughts are often out of line with reality. And so it is with Brad's status and the way he looked at his life in this film. And as is shown in the film through the character of Brad and his philosophical musings, we should all bend our faulty perceptions into something more reasonable. We should stop and smell the roses and be happy for who we are. We should be present in our reality and not worry unduly about what our lives could have been. We should practice gratitude and not dissatisfaction. We shouldn't give a damn about what others think of us. And on that note, I suggest you watch the film. If you relate to my ramblings even a little, then you will get something from the reflections ruminated on throughout the course of this movie. In my opinion, there were moments within of unbridled brilliance. In short, watch it!
16 minutes of whining about other people being more successful than him was 16 minutes more depressing than I needed to be. I wanted to kill myself after 15 minutes...it took me 1 minute of depression trying to find the off button. 0/10
The most pointless film ever made. Skip this & burn it if you happened to buy it on Dvd/Bluray.
This is a movie about a guy moaning about his friends being more successful than himself. The only thing that makes him remotely happy is his son possibly going to Harvard,he thinks that will somehow make the last 13 years of his life valid. The ending was a non ending
A good one from Ben Stiller, it had a good message to it. Don't try to be better than someone else or be someone else, try to be a better person tomorrow than you were today. Look what you have in life, where you are, what surrounds you before you can say the words I've failed.
