Mind over matter
Dr. Blake runs a TV show called "Independent Thinkers", which is sort of a Scientology-like self-help/religion program. But he's not making his audience think any more independently – with the help of an alien organism he calls The Brain, he's using brainwashing and mind control. The only thing that stands between them and world domination is a brilliant but troubled high school student with a penchant for pranks...

This is an '80s Horror movie through and through. There are mediocre practical effects, silly gore, some nudity and a 30-year old man playing a high school student. The score is trademark cheesy '80s synth, too. This is a bad movie but the Brain is a neat looking evil entity. It manages to sneak around enough to generate the required number of jump scares and then eats its victims whole. The opening attack scene in the first 5 minutes is the best thing that happens. After that, the movie attempts to set the record for the most chase scenes in a film. The hero is chased endlessly though hallways and up and down staircases. I've also never seen so many uses of bolt cutters. "WARNING the washroom scene is a dramatic representation. Combining sodium and water may cause serious injury. Do not attempt it !!!" Never mind the fire axes and handguns...
Perfect 80s slop. The acting is just bad enough to be endearing and the special effects are a lot of fun. This is one of those genuine b movie creatures that fucks. 3½ stars.

The lead actor is distractingly bad. Speak up! Maybe just a bit more energy!! Decent character FX tho
