For ten years, immigrant Tobias has worked at a Swiss clock factory and, in the relentless ticking, he saw life go by without much expectation. One day, he sees Caroline, a former schoolmate from back in Eastern Europe, and falls in love with her, but she's married and has a daughter.

A film that is undoubtedly courageous and highly atypical compared to the director's past output. But courage is often not enough. In being dramatic, _Brucio nel vento_ is not dramatic enough. In being sentimental, it is not sentimental enough. In being uneasy, it is not uneasy enough. What makes it, yes, an interesting film, but overall rather inconclusive. Ps: I unfortunately had to see the dubbed version as it is the only one available online. Soldini himself disowns it. For this reason, also because the dubbing in this case makes an enormous impact on the quality of the product, I will try in time to retrieve the subtitled version to reconsider my opinion of the film and edit this review.
