He has trained every thought, every muscle, every nerve, for the moment of truth!
Rick, a down-and-out American boxer, is hired to transport a sword to Japan, unaware that the whole thing is a set up in a bitter blood-feud between two brothers, one who follows the traditional path of the samurai and the other a businessman. At the behest of the businessman, Rick undertakes samurai training from the other brother, but joins his cause. He also becomes romantically involved with the samurai's daughter.

The movie has a lot of cheese, and is a bit boring, but it also has redeeming qualities, especially the grate music by Jerry Goldsmit.
Predictable and boring, the only thing The Challenge does well is bastardizing Japanese values and Samurai film conventions with it's ultra-violent American DNA. Sad to see Mifune wasted on this
This poor man really gets his shit pushed in for 48 straight minutes. Will you eat live lobster? Yes Will you eat live eels? Yes Will you eat bugs? Yes Will you get beat up for most of your time on set? I would do anything
Ridiculous, yet fun as hell culture-clash 80s action movie. Scott Glenn is awesome as always as is Mifune, who it was weird seeing in his twilight. Some cheesy but glorious one liners, and surprisingly decent action sequences.
