The acting certainly isn’t perfect, but I still found it interesting to watch, even if it was clichéd. Precisely because the film comes from a country that no longer exists—my country of birth—it represents a piece of history. And where the topic of homosexuality was certainly never openly discussed or permitted, even if it wasn’t entirely forbidden. However, as was so often the case, it was unfortunately frowned upon, and people were marginalized and discriminated against. Surely also the reason why the film wasn’t broadcast until right after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Overall, a well-rounded film with a great lead actor.
