[Amazon] The essence of gospel through the voice of Aretha Franklin. Sydney Pollack's film is chaotic, it leaves us without the rehearsal sessions, it is too interested in Mick Jagger, but it manages to capture the religious ecstasy. It's interesting to read between the lines: Aretha Franklin's shyness, that kind of patriarchal blessing from her father and James Cleveland... The importance of a clapperboard.
