Going mad...going straight...going places...going nowhere...
School leaver Phil moves with his father from inner-city London to the satellite Hertfordshire New Town of Stevenage, where they are promised a brighter future...but all Phil finds there is a bleak, cultural wilderness; a world of unemployment, violence, alcoholism and drug abuse in 90s Britain

**Boston Kickout** is a solid slice‑of‑life film for my generation — the early 90s — that captures new‑town culture. The soundtrack is a highlight, tunes by Primal Scream, Stone Roses and there’s a scene filmed where I grew up that always stands out. It features early performances from actors who later became staples of British TV. Don’t be fooled by the Trakt poster — it’s misleading. It pairs well with the documentary **New Town Utopia**.
