This has been floating around on Twitter recently so naturally I had to see what was up. 😄
I love Gene Kelly and Judy Garland and how could a movie with both of them in it not be great? Well, it wasn't. It was an okay movie but didn't live up to the greatness that I've come to expect from them. Both of their characters, in fact, the plot itself, was all a bit cheesy. I will say that the movie had me laughing out loud a couple times but I honestly couldn't tell if the overacting was actually meant to be funny or not. The one thing that I will say is that this is the first time where a white male appeared in a film dancing with African-Americans. In fact, that scene was banned in certain states because of how controversial it was. That says a lot about Gene Kelly as a person and that particular dance scene was so athletic and so well done.
