I have seen the first two “Ghost in the Shell” films, but with “The New Movie,” I definitely had the feeling that I was missing a lot of information. The film is indeed solidly animated, but I could hardly follow the plot due to the multitude of characters and organizations. Apparently, the movie is a sequel to the series “Ghost in the Shell: Arise.” In any case, I can only advise anyone who hasn't seen "Arise" not to watch “The New Movie.” It might be something for fans of the series, but unfortunately I can't really judge that myself.
