Maybe he would find the girl... maybe he would find himself.
Private detective and former football player Harry Moseby gets hired on to what seems a standard missing person case - a former Hollywood actress wants Moseby to find and return her daughter. Harry travels to Florida to find her, but he begins to see a connection between the runaway girl, the world of Hollywood stuntmen, and a suspicious mechanic when an unsolved murder comes to light.

Night Moves has all the ingredients of a compelling detective story: a strong lead, an intriguing mystery, and an atmosphere of uncertainty. Unfortunately, the story just never pulled me in. The mystery is intentionally messy and the characters are difficult to connect with. There is enough here that it deserves a second chance, but my first impression was underwhelming.
The sort of bleak, vaguely existential, pitch-dark noir that you only get from this era. Nowhere near perfect, but great acting and thrilling the whole way through with a meloncolic touch. Gene Hackman too.
It starts off intriguing but I didn't find the story that engaging.
Interesting noir movie that takes time to get going. Great performance by Gene Hackman. There is a weird scene involving Melanie Griffith that should not have been shot.
