A humble and simple Takezo abandons his life as a knight errant. He's sought as a teacher and vassal by Shogun, Japan's most powerful clan leader. He's also challenged to fight by the supremely confident and skillful Sasaki Kojiro. Takezo agrees to fight Kojiro in a year's time but rejects Shogun's patronage, choosing instead to live on the edge of a village, raising vegetables. He's followed there by Otsu and later by Akemi, both in love with him. The year ends as Takezo assists the villagers against a band of brigands. He seeks Otsu's forgiveness and accepts her love, then sets off across the water to Ganryu Island for his final contest.

The climax was absolutely superb, but man did it take a long time to get there.
women characters are flat as ever. not a thing beside wanting men. mushashis later life and his drive towards peaceful cultivating life is shown better here. less duel like than the first. barely a sense of blood lust like 2. this time i think its about his peace and growing out of his wildness and anger
The saga was good and how it ends, but the soap opera between Akemi, Otzu and Musashi takes 3 movies to be resolved, too long.
The original title of the film is Miyamoto Musashi Kanketsuhen Kettô Ganryûjima.
Collapses on the ground sobbing…I love these movies!
