I wouldn’t say this is a must watch or a masterpiece of silent cinema and it is most noticeable for Barrymore’s performance and the transformation shots. It’s good but if you compare it to the German expressionist movies of the same period, lacks inventiveness. The 1931 version of the story is the best to date. 6/10
