A rewatch today will raise fairly cliche and predictable tropes in the first half, with some flat acting by the supporting cast, especially when contrasted against the effervescent Kamal. The second half, however, has an intense and emotional resolution that holds up even to this day. When combined with some truly legendary songs, the movie moves to watchable overall with sparks of brilliance to keep your interest throughout.
