Faced with two false confessions and numerous suspects after a despised civil magistrate is found shot in the local vicarage, Detective Inspector Slack reluctantly accepts help from Miss Marple.

Glad that Miss Marple was features slightly more in this one, though we always want more of course.
Aside from Hickson, the casting choices are a mixed bag. I rather preferred Marple's role in the novel. The story is from the perspective of Clement, the vicar. Maple is visited for information and perspective - it's remarkable what she can deduce from the sidelines just from observation. Here, she's squirrelling about and always manifesting in the thick of things.
