Like every other Hollywood WWII movie it plays along the usual cliches. The evil Japanese who bombs civilian women and children, against the good and heroic American who fights on behalf of the defenseless. Plus, the dialogue is cheesy and the story is the usual. And, of course, there is the pretty girl. But all this is not to be understood as critic, keep in mind this was made 1942 so it is basically propaganda that was produced to make people go to war. The truth, of course, was very much different. I am pretty sure if you watch this you already know all that. And I like those movies for what they are anyway.
