this movie makes no damn sense. its absurd the situation they find themselves in. but its a compelling watch. just why

Fantastic, bizarre, fascinating movie. Felt to me like Bunuel was channeling his surrealistic impulses into something more formalistically "normal," but without losing any of the wit or verve we see in his early works. It becomes a sort of a science fiction/horror movie, but in the vein of "Groundhog Day" or "The One I Love." Strange happenings abound that remain unexplained, and we're left with a sense that reality can destabilize at any moment. This was great.
