probably the closest to a middle ground between the straightforward horror romps of the earliest work and later 1313 foolery of David's catalog. i usually prefer a bit more homoeroticism to go with my DeCoteau (not that it's completely lacking here, i mean come on lmao) but the boy band/music framing was fun and it even gave an excuse for the music video editing to feel like it works where it otherwise might have been annoying. i think my next entry into this filmography might be one of the Lifetime movies? i've dipped my toes into most of the ground covered except for one of those.
