In seconds, their paths crossed. In hours, their lives changed.
Joseph Grange (Giancarlo Esposito), an unstable fugitive from the law, bursts into the home of suburban housewife Claire Ballard (Sharon Lawrence), and an intense hostage drama begins. Desperate to save her life, Claire initiates a dialogue with Grange as a trigger-happy SWAT team waits outside poised to storm the house. Claire, herself the product of a troubled past, begins to identify with the tormented Grange and, over five tension-filled hours, victim and captor forge an unlikely bond.

Definitely underrated. I'm the first commenter here on Trakt and there are only 4 reviews written on IMDb as I type this! They're all in favor though! Yet, there's currently a 5.8/10 rating there. I found _Five Desperate Hours_ to be both really exciting and really touching. If nothing else, I imagine some ==_Breaking Bad_== fans would thoroughly enjoy seeing "Gus Fring in his early days
of crime,"
as I joked with my boyfriend. Wanting to share it with him is why there's a second play from me less than a month later from the first. The way these lines were delivered (spoilers in this review are only if you prefer to not read movie descriptions/go in as blind as possible): >
"I'm a n*gger in North Carolina holding a white woman hostage. Is that enough trouble for ya?"
Perhaps I will try looking into some of the director's other 90s films; there may be more gems to dig up!
