Sparse, meditative and mean, with well-directed gunfights that are gory but saddled with dated sound effects (maybe a deliberate choice, as a callback to old gangster movies). Be sure to stick around for the post-credit J. Edgar Hoover quote, after which you'll be left wondering what it is about cops vs. robbers, why it's more fun to watch a movie called Dillinger than it is to watch one called Purvis.

What a cast. Great gangster movie. And i love the music.
