**There's a lot here to enjoy, and a lot here to confuse.** The computer voice on Toombs' ship says it all... >_“Plotted course good. Angle of approach, not good.”_
Compared to "Pitch Black" this film features more Sci-Fi, better special effects and less horror elements. A worthy sequel and a very "cool", fast and fun watch.
Dunno why the film gets so much hate, must be Nolan fans.
Early 2000's Sci-Fi/Action is just an outright different genre. The Riddick trilogy is one of the most memorable, even if not the best. This was a solid popcorn flick. Rating: 2.5/5 - 70% - Worth Watching
This is a testament to "bigger is not always better". The original Riddick film PITCH BLACK was made for less than a quarter of the price and told a smaller more intimate tale. This film cost $US 105 million and told a world killer tale (complete with A list actors). The former brought in double the cost of making it and earned a loyal following. The latter made a modest (relatively) more than it cost to make and disappointed its original fan base. If this film had been a one off it would have been an OK film, but as a sequel it lost much of what was good about the first. I give this movie a 7 (good) out of 10, when the original was a 10 out of 10. [SciFi Action]
