Based on a popular stage play, _The Man Who Came to Dinner_ is a quirky and entertaining farcical comedy. The story follows a renowned and influential radio show host who slips on the doorstep of one of his admirers and ends up taking over the family’s home and causes them no end of trouble while he convalesces and his friends and well-wishers come to visit. Featuring Bette Davis, Ann Sheridan, Monty Woolley, Billie Burke, and Jimmy Durante, the film has a solid cast that give strong performances. However, the biting satire and witty repartee between characters can take a bit of getting use to; as it seems a bit mean-spirited and abusive, though that slowly changes as the audience gets to know the characters. Still, overall the broad vaudeville style humor and sight gags work fairly well and deliver some good laughs. _The Man Who Came to Dinner_, despite its problems, is a lot fun, making for a delightful holiday treat.
