Life gave him nothing, except the courage to win...and a woman to love.
Zack Mayo is an aloof, taciturn man who aspires to be a navy pilot. Once he arrives at training camp for his 13-week officer's course, Mayo runs afoul of abrasive, no-nonsense drill Sergeant Emil Foley. Mayo is an excellent cadet, but a little cold around the heart, so Foley rides him mercilessly, sensing that the young man would be prime officer material if he weren't so self-involved. Zack's affair with a working girl is likewise compromised by his unwillingness to give of himself.

This, Terms Of Endearment and Urban Cowboy made Winger pretty famous in the 80s as the, cute, vulnerable Girl Next Door.
Good chick flick.
Human and love relationships in a military aviation academy.
Not my first time to watch it but it's been so many years since, that I was basically "watching it again for the first time". So much better than I remembered, although I *did* recall the basic storyline (and the bathroom scene with David Keith's character "Worley"). Even 44 years later, this is still an absolutely beautiful movie with terrific acting throughout, a timeless musical score, heartfelt drama, etc. I will even confess to getting misty-eyed at the ending...something that maybe one other movie has ever made me do. LOL It's an "old" movie, yes, but it hasn't aged a bit, and still proves to be a beautiful love story.
