Not as witty as other screwball romantic comedies of the time, and of course the resolution is never in doubt, but this is still a lot of fun and you would not know March and Lake hated each other as they chemistry together is great. The film actually takes a while to get going as it spends far too long setting up its ridiculous premise than it needs to, but once Lake appears, it vastly improves and the centrepiece scene at a wedding is the highlight and a lot of fun.

I adore this movie. I couldn't even tell you how many times I've watched it, definitely one of my all time comfort movies.

"Ever hear of the decline and fall of the Roman Empire? That was our crowd." I Married a Witch is such a cute little romantic comedy from the 40's and with a great concept. Will they ever remake this one? I think it has potential. Anyway you'll get the lovely Veronica Lake as the witch Jennifer, Fredic March as Wallace Wooley aka the person Jennifer tries to take revenge on but ultimately falls in love with, Cecil Kellaway is a great drunken witch and we get some great smoke effects. You can't go wrong with this little 75 minute comedy if you want to brighten your day!

I mean, there comes a point when all classic b/w movies are worth a watch due to the mid-Atlantic accents, due to the crisp images, due to all the historic clothes, unusual props and outdated social behavior that inevitably comes with a movie 80 years old. Thus, I enjoyed this movie. The plot has its funny and romantic moments and Lake and Hayward are great but this isn't a timeless masterpiece and - as far I can tell - it wasn't a milestone for filmmaking.

Veronica lake is luminous in this. Good movie too.
