It may start out as your average lower class drama, but it turns into something special after a while. It may be uncomfortable to watch at times, but it makes this a very intense movie.
Mia is one angry teenager mad at her family, the establishment and anyone in between, its a good story and you can see the realism of it affecting teenagers in similar situations. I found the film really well made and Katie Jarvis playing Mia was excellent.
Little future for British suburbs.
So, this film was pretty obviously more than a little inspired by 1961's A Taste of Honey. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it's close enough in some aspects that I'm surprised I haven't seen any acknowledgement of it beyond comparisons on a thematic or surface level.
What an acting from Jarvis. She deserve so much more in industry.Back then i would expect to see her more in new roles but sadly this didn't happen.7.2/10
