A love story every woman would die a thousand deaths to live!
After a bleak childhood, Jane Eyre goes out into the world to become a governess. As she lives happily in her new position at Thornfield Hall, she meets the dark, cold, and abrupt master of the house, Edward Rochester. Jane and her employer grow close in friendship and she soon finds herself falling in love with him. Happiness seems to have found Jane at last, but could Rochester's terrible secret be about to destroy it forever?

I thought this was a very good well paced movie with great performances by Orson Welles and Joan Fontaine. The story flowed well and this earlier versions are much better than the newer ones. A great classic cinema watch.
This is the first good _Jane Eyre_ adaptation I've seen! It's the only one I'm aware of that actually picks up what the book is putting down. Orson Welles as Mr. Rochester is spectacular, and Joan Fontaine captures Jane perfectly.
