Synopsis
Nerdy Walter Paisley, a maladroit busboy at a beatnik café who doesn't fit in with the cool scene around him, attempts to woo his beautiful co-worker, Carla, by making a bust of her. When his klutziness results in the death of his landlady's cat, he panics and hides its body under a layer of plaster. But when Carla and her friends enthuse over the resulting artwork, Walter decides to create some bigger and more elaborate pieces using the same artistic process.

I was suprised how good the characterisation were - in a camp and comical way. The dialogue does the job well. The idea of the story is bizarre and interesting. The setting also adds interest. Aged well.

Great thriller, delightful satire, and it's short. _A Bucket of Blood_ is a well sculpted black comedy with a very unique style that parodies the beatnik culture with a little bit of horror elements to it. It hits so many truths behind art and capitalism. It manages to be both really funny and genuinely scary because how relatable it is to this day. Dick Miller is great as a wannabe artist and the rest of the cast is decent. Hipsters never change.
