Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. Urgent concerns of scientific responsibility, parental neglect, cognitive development and the nature of good and evil are embedded within this thrilling and deeply disturbing tale.

[NT/YouTube] An absorbing theatrical experience. Great lighting job. Great staging. Curious representation of the main characters by two specially inspired actors. That energetic performing of the monster that Benedict Cumberbatch does is powerful, while Jonny Lee Miller is a wilder creature but at the same time more emotional. Danny Boyle put all the pieces together with a good sense of rhythm and narrative.
Wonderful production of Frankenstein. Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller alternated roles (Doctor and Creature) for the run of the play, but the night I saw it Miller was the Creature. Both actors were superb. Interesting stage design, blending tech with period. Most enjoyable! I gave it a 9 (superb) out of 10.
