Resistance is futile.
The Borg, a relentless race of cyborgs, are on a direct course for Earth. Violating orders to stay away from the battle, Captain Picard and the crew of the newly-commissioned USS Enterprise E pursue the Borg back in time to prevent the invaders from changing Federation history and assimilating the galaxy.

Easily one of the best Star Trek movies. This is how you do it. Too bad the two Next Generation films after are no where near as good. The reboot films are good but this is better than them too.
Interesting fact I hadn´t thought of before. Like the first TOS movie I didn´t liked the first TNG movie very much. In both cases the second one was more action oriented and in both scripts they brought back the arch-enemy of the respective captain. Here they raised up the ante by threatening the whole Federation instead of a personal vandetta. Is "First Contact" the best TNG movie maybe even the best Star Trek movie ? I don´t know. Personally I have another candidate for that title. But it is certainly a great movie althought it probably makes more sense for those who know Trek mythology. Some of the humor might also be wasted on the casual watcher. From the production side this is a trade off. "Generations" had the much better locations but the sets on "First Contact" are superior. The Borg looked better than ever, that´s the luxury of a movie budget. I like the new uniforms, they have a much more, let´s descibe it as, adult look. It was nessessary since the old TV uniforms didn´t look great on a big screen. I can´t comprehend why people think SFX is worse than "Generations". I don´t see it. The new Enterprise looks great, technically this was I think were it could be in terms of technology and budget. Oh, one last thought: blond doesn´t look as good on Dr Crusher as red. But that´s just me ;-)
The best of the Next Generation films, this picks up story threads from some of the strongest episodes of the TV show without alienating the audience who haven't seen the show. The Borg have always been great villains and here they are given a face in the shape of Alice Krige, who is easily the best antagonist in the film series since Khan. After a rousing and impressive battle at the beginning of the film, the relentless and creepy nature of the Borg is played to great effect in the dark corridors of the Enterprise and on its hull. Splitting the crew into two separate plots helps to give all the crew something to do, but whilst the B plot on the planet's surface explores an interesting moment in Trek lore, ultimately it's the battle with the Borg that captures the attention. The film also has a great score from Jerry Goldsmith.
10/10 Outstanding and totally frickin Awesome, This hands down is the best Star Trek movie of them all period. The next generation crew was the crew i choose growing up and they always been my personal favourite, (Excluding Discovery). Hard to think that first Contact is closing in on being 30 years old. And it's not aged a damn day which is a testament to how amazing this movie actually is. I love time travel Stories they are my absolute favourite It's what I hope for In my syfy movies. The Borg are my favourite race ever and they look evil AF in this movie, They are relentless and it's that, that makes them so bloody menacing. This movie had everything And balanced it all to 'Perfection'. So many modern syfy TV shows and movies today and still Star Trek First Contact puts them all to shame...with ease
