Exceptionally bad, _Man-Thing_ is one of the worst adaptations of a Marvel comic ever made. The story follows a new sheriff who investigates a rash of disappearances and murders in a swamp that’s being drilled for oil. The acting is pretty bad, but the real problem is that the film’s not about Man-Thing. Instead, the plot focuses on a murder mystery that goes nowhere. Man-Thing only appears in a couple of scenes with no explanation as to who he is. Also, the directing style is bizarre, with randomly inserted flashes to pieces of the swamp (perhaps to create tension) that are incredibly confusing. _Man-Thing_ is a poorly made film that’s embarrassed of its source material and does everything it can to avoid it.
