The terrifying truth about flying saucers!
Test space rockets exploding at liftoff and increased reporting of UFO sightings culminate in a direct attempt by alien survivors of a dead, extra-galactic civilization to invade Earth from impervious flying saucers, using ray-weapons of mass destruction.

Really good special effects courtesy of Ray Harryhausen. The story is entertaining and I have to give plenty of points to the writers and the director for the creative weapon used to fight the alien saucers. The classic saucer design make for a couple of "hall-of-fame" sci-fi movie moments such as a saucer crashing into the dome of the Capitol Building and another slicing through the Washington Monument. Again this is Harryhausen's show.
Typical 1950s scary aliens film Even though the aliens came in piece And the scientists learnt that before killing them Despite not having the same weapons or the ability to
slow down time
I wouldn't bother watching it again - pretty much if you have seen any 1950's flying saucer movie, you have seen this. The only interesting thing was for me was the dynamics of the scientists. All are very manly (the women being generally typists of delivering tea), smoking pipes was a sign of being educated, and in any given meeting, only 3 people were important, and the rest just stood around looking serious.
It's like an early Independence Day.:flying_saucer::flying_saucer::flying_saucer:
