German thriller. Dialogue sometimes out of sync.
In 2000, the slasher wave from the United States spilled over into German cinema. And with "Anatomy," the result is by no means a bad film. Obviously, quite a few D-Mark were spent here, which is evident from the solid practical effects and the German all-star cast. The biggest plus points are the fresh setting and the likeable lead actress, Franka Potente. Director Stefan Ruzowitzky gets some things right as well, as the film is quite suspenseful in places. Unfortunately, the over-the-top, inappropriate, raunchy, and silly German humor dominates many other scenes. Some of the dialogue also feels incredibly artificial. And as the story progresses, it becomes increasingly absurd. Overall, though, "Anatomy" is probably one of the best German horror films of the last 30 years.
It wasn’t anything brilliant, some average action, a creepy plot that was a good idea but could of been better, the main lead wasn’t anything brilliant. I had to watch it in dub because I didn’t realise that it wasn’t English but that didn’t put me off.
