I love these kinds of movies. I love Kristen Bell. But this is just not a good movie.

It's not as bad as people are saying it is. It's basically a movie about someone having a mid-life crisis (Which yes, can happen at 29). In the process of this mid-life crisis the main character reverts back to the person she used to be and even has a brief affair with a younger dude, but in the process works out whatever she needs to work out to start the next chapter in her life. There's no underlying plot past that, no murders going on, no gun fight anyone jumps in to, it's just a simple story with a simple outcome.

I enjoyed it but I'm a fan of Kristen Bell. This one definitely isn't one of my favourites though.

Could have been good, terrible score kicked in before every sex scene. Just another project for Kristen Bell to sleep with someone younger.

Kristen Bell headlines the deplorable indie film The Lifeguard. A depressed and disaffected New York City reporter returns to her home town where she reverts back to her delinquent ways and has an affair with a high school student. The plot just meanders aimlessly from cliché to cliché without any point. And, the characters aren’t very likable or interesting. The acting is also especially weak; even Bell gives a phoned in performance. The Lifeguard is an insipid and inane piece of tripe that hints at a moral, but never gets around to it.
