There was an attempt, even if half assed. Here in 2022 I’m thinking the lumber budget was bigger than the SFX costs. There was some dialogue that invoked a light chuckle, the fake beards were a nice touch, but for the most part the movie feels much longer than it really is.

I've actually heard people defend this movie, but it baffles me; even after putting my expectations in check, the cartoon aliens in this dreck just make me check out instantly. Between the bargain-bin CGI that looks more like a 90s screensaver than a biological threat and a script that even Bruce Campbell’s charisma can’t save, the film fails to land as either a serious sci-fi or a successful parody. It’s a tedious, visual eyesore that lacks the charm required to justify its own absurdity.
