Every act of creation has a price.
In seclusion at La Quinta del Sordo, Goya confronts illness, memories, and haunting visions, exorcising his demons through the Black Paintings —sacrificing peace, sanity, and self to immortalize his torment.

To be honest, initially, the style of the animated short film “The Quinta's Ghost” reminded me a little of a cutscene from an indie video game. Later, however, the film drifts more and more into the surreal, which appealed to me much more. And since the story about the last years of the painter Francisco de Goya also has quite a few horror elements, it was right up my alley anyway. It's not necessarily a typical Oscar short film, which makes it stand out from the crowd. I wasn't entirely convinced by the style, but the idea alone gets a thumbs up from me.
